Black and white composite portrait of Burtscher and Bertolini, featuring a man’s profile and a woman’s forward-facing contemplative expression.

Chiristof Burtscher (1964-2001) was an Austrian master-carpenter and wood carver. Patrizia Bertolini was born in Italy in 1964, and graduated with a degree in Industrial Design from Rome ISIA. The pair met at the Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan, where they first started exchanging ideas and mixing their different projective styles. They began working together in 1991, in Vienna, and then moved to Bolzano (Italy) where they opened a new studio in 1995. Their principle focus is on the furnishing sector and their prototypes are born from a combination of research work and workshop experimentation.
