Designer, entrepreneur, and architect from Belgium, Jan Van Lierde is recognized today as a leading international figure in the field of lighting design. After graduating in architecture from Ghent in 1978, he established his own architecture practice, laying the foundation for a career that would seamlessly bridge design and entrepreneurship.
In 1982, he founded Kreon—one of his most influential ventures—marking a pivotal moment in his professional path. Initially focused on providing lighting design services for interiors, Kreon quickly evolved into a key lighting consultancy across Europe. Over time, the company expanded its scope to include the design and production of its own lighting collections, operating from its base in Antwerp.
Van Lierde’s work reflects a clear, architectural approach to lighting, combining technical precision with a strong design sensibility, and contributing significantly to the development of contemporary lighting solutions on an international scale.
