Lorenzo Silvestri is a designer born in 1998. He began his academic career pursuing a Master’s Degree in Integrated Product Design at the Politecnico di Milano, followed by an international experience at Elisava University in Barcelona. In 2023, he obtained his Master’s Degree with a thesis developed at Polifactory as part of the Talents in Residence programme, titled “Terraforma – Material Investigation on the Possibilities of Combining the Natural Growth of Mycelium and Unfired Clay for Novel Sustainable Product Design Applications.”
Since February 2023, he has been collaborating with Polifactory, where he primarily works on research projects related to digital manufacturing, the circular transition, and the digital transformation of food systems.
He was awarded first place in the Student Category of the fifth edition of the IDEAS4WOOD Contest – Carpanelli Award for his Nara Coffee Table.
During his studies, he developed a strong interest in the expressiveness and narrative potential of objects. He believes that a mature design approach, capable of generating positive ethical and social impact, should create a meaningful connection and a deep dialogue between people and artefacts.
