Since 1966, Paolo Lomazzi, together with Donato D’Urbino, has been working designing architecture, objects, scenography, furnishings and urban projects. They both worked with architect Jonathan De Pas from the beginning of their careers until 1991 (the year of De Pas’ death).
During the 1960s, they showed a particular interest in the activity of creating temporary furniture and architecture, featuring the use of materials and cutting-edge industrial techniques. They designed a series of pneumatic home structures for the Italian pavilion at the World Expo in Osaka and for the 14th edition of the Milan Triennial and, in 1967 the inflatable armchair Blow.
They have taken part in several exhibitions within the industry and have been invited to create designs for different institutions. Among the numerous awards obtained, the Compasso d’Oro in 1979. Their works are present in the design collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Center Pompidou in Paris and others.
