In the name Bloomington, the verb “to bloom” resonates. Yet here, the blossoming is architectural—a construction of form in space. The Bloomington armchair emerges as a volume shaped by gesture, a three-dimensional sign that asserts itself with both clarity and ease, defining space even before accommodating the body. Its enveloping lines evoke the profile of a calla lily, yet this organic suggestion is translated into a structural language: a compact outer shell, strong and refined, polished to a mirror-like surface. Light flows across its high-gloss finish as it would over a contemporary sculpture, amplifying curves and tensions, and placing material at the forefront.
The trumpet-shaped base, polished and reflective, acts as a structural stem. Not merely a support, but a natural extension of the form: it lifts the seat, transforming it into a suspended chalice, poised between mass and momentum.
