Description
The Frame upholstered piece originates from a reflection on structure as the primary principle of design. Its very name is not a decorative reference, but a declarative statement: the frame as a generative element, a matrix that supports, defines and delineates. The seat, wide and deep, is constructed through compact volumes upholstered in leather, conceived for measured and continuous comfort. Solid, almost monolithic blocks alternate with calibrated voids, generating a composition that finds its balance in contrast. The hollowed armrest, clad in metal, becomes both a structural and expressive element. Not an accessory, but a contemporary architrave: a taut line that frames the space, establishing a clear dialogue between mass and lightness, solidity and absence.
Within this alternation lies the project’s brutalist character—not as a stylistic quotation, but as an attitude. As in brutalist architecture, detail is not concealed but affirmed. The tension between warm and cool materials—leather and metal—reinforces this identity. Comfort engages with rigidity, softness with precision. Frame does not soften structure; it makes it inhabitable. The sofa thus takes shape as a domestic micro-architecture, where the frame does not simply contain the body, but defines a posture, a way of inhabiting space.
