Favaretto & Partners

Francesco Favaretto was born in Padua in 1983 and after graduating from the Liceo Artistico, he graduated in Industrial Design at the IUAV of Venice, where he followed the lessons of architect and designer Tobia Scarpa. Still a student he was a founding member of a young and casual clothing company, he designed the logo and currently continues in art direction, viewing production and communication of the collections. Active and curious, he is challenged himself with a variety of projects: from interior design, to corporate identity to clothing lines for different brands and in particular to FIT-Italian Tennis Federation. Important was the trip, in July 2008, in Toronto (Canada) that made him gain experience alongside Conrad Marini, president of CMM Design Associates, (today collaborator in Favaretto & Partners North America) from which he learned to love the subject and the trade. On his return he decided to continue in the product design sector and asked his father to “host him” in his studio, also to carry on the work started in Canada. Father and Son began working together in January 2009, giving life to Favaretto & Partners. Up to date, in addition to collaborations with his father, he boasts products ranging from upholstered furniture, lighting, plastic materials to porcelain, without forgetting seating in general, apparently simple microarchitectures that now seem to be part of the family’s DNA! He recently brought his testimony to the University of Architecture of Syracuse and to the IUAV of Venice.Paolo Favaretto was born in Padua in 1950 and graduated in Architecture at the University Institute of Architecture in Venice, IUAV, where he attended the lectures of Professor Carlo Scarpa. After graduating, he immediately his profession and in 1973 he founded the studio that has his name. Active as a designer and consultant for the industry, he has collaborated with prestigious Italian and foreign companies, obtaining important prizes and awards. He is past president of the Veneto Delegation and Trentino Alto Adige of the ADI-Association for Industrial Design, he was founder and president of the IIDD-Italian Institute for Design Disability (now DFA-Design for All) and member of the DFA EUROPA board and currently represents the ADI at the BEDA-Bureau of European Design Associations. He was also a member of the scientific committee of the European project IDIA-Inclusive Design and Intelligent Technology for Accessible Workplaces. He lectures at universities and international design institutes, including the degree courses in Industrial Design at the Politecnico di Milano and the IUAV of Venice, the Italian School of Design in Padua, the National College of Art and Design in Dublin, the University Consortium for Business Organization Studies (CUOA) in Vicenza. Many of his works have been published in design books and in the most important specialized magazines. In 2007 he published his monograph “Paolo Favaretto, industrial designer” published by Il Poligrafo, produced by the critic and professor Alberto Bassi. In 2013 he celebrated forty years of activity and the City of Padua, as a tribute to his work, dedicated to him a personal exhibition: – 40X40 Paolo Favaretto the years of design – On the occasion, a new monograph of the same title of the exhibition was published by Mondadori Electa, with a preface by the historian and writer Philippe Daverio.
