This head sculpture brings to life one of antiquity’s most charged narrative moments — a companion of Odysseus, caught in the grip of the myth immortalized in “Odysseus Blinding Polyphemus,” the celebrated marble group unearthed at Sperlonga and dated to the 1st century BC. The face carries a rare emotional weight: brow furrowed, eyes cast in shadow, an expression suspended somewhere between dread and resolve as the scene’s tension unfolds.
Reproduced in plaster with an aged surface treatment, the piece translates the texture and gravity of ancient marble into a finish that reads as genuinely time-worn. The sculptural detail — from the deeply carved curls to the lined, weathered features — reflects the technical command of Hellenistic sculpture at its height, achieved here through precise casting and hand-finishing.
Set against this classical presence is a base of powder-coated steel, fully wrapped in leather with hand-applied contrast stitching — a deliberate pairing of old-world sculpture and contemporary tailoring.
