Description
This head sculpture is drawn from the Tête d’Arles, the Roman marble sculpture held at the Musée de l’Arles et de la Provence Antique, reinterpreting the classical ideal of Venus with a sense of poise and quiet majesty rooted in imperial Rome’s reworking of the Greek Aphrodite.
Reproduced in aged-effect plaster, the sculpture renders its features with notable delicacy — softly contoured lines, intricately braided hair crowned with laurel, and a light surface patina that lends the whole composition a genuinely time-worn character. Every detail reflects the sculptural refinement associated with the original piece.
The base combines powder-coated steel with a full leather covering and contrasting hand stitching, anchoring the sculpture’s classical presence within a contemporary material vocabulary. Suited to curated residential interiors, private galleries, or luxury spaces where sculptural presence carries real design weight. Handmade in Italy.
Product Care: This piece calls for gentle care. Clean the leather base only with a soft cloth slightly dampened with mild soap and water, then dry gently — avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners. Natural variations in tone and markings are distinctive features of the leather and will develop a unique patina over time. For routine dusting, the Vèlle Soft Brush Duo is available as an optional accessory.
