Dolfin is a chair born from the meeting of history and contemporary design, where Venetian tradition blends seamlessly with Italian craftsmanship. Inspired by the iconic ferro di prua of the gondola—known as the dolfin—this refined piece transforms the sinuous and decorative silhouette of a historic symbol into elegant designer furniture. Its fluid and harmonious lines evoke the lightness and sophistication of the Venetian lagoon, while the solid ash wood structure highlights the natural beauty and warmth of premium materials.
Available in refined finishes such as black or walnut tones, the chair enhances the tactile richness of wood and reflects the artisanal mastery associated with luxury Italian furniture. The slender, sculptural form creates a sense of visual lightness, making the piece ideal for contemporary interiors that value both heritage and modern design language.
Designed by Geo Carignani and Luca Cotini in collaboration with the Carpanelli R&D department for the Ideas4Wood – Premio Carpanelli 2020 contest, Dolfin won the Professionals category for its ability to reinterpret tradition through innovation. The project represents the meeting of artistic vision and technical expertise, resulting in a distinctive piece that fits beautifully within sophisticated living room sets, where craftsmanship, symbolism, and modern elegance come together.
