Description
Created by Le Corbusier in 1963 specifically for the Parliament in Chandigarh, India, the modern Parliament Floor Lamp embodies the spirit of 1950s modernism and showcases the architect’s affinity for the industrial lighting solutions of that period. The design centers on a functional, adjustable diffuser made of two open, symmetrical cones, a structure that allows the lamp to cast both direct downward light and softer, indirect upward illumination. This dual distribution reflects Le Corbusier’s attention to balanced atmospheres and practical needs within architectural spaces. The lamp’s finishes are derived from the “claviers de couleurs,” the carefully developed color system conceived by the Swiss-French master, in which nuanced, coordinated tones were selected to enhance spatial perception and visual harmony. Together, these elements highlight the lamp’s roots in modernist thinking, uniting technical clarity, versatility, and a refined chromatic approach. Made in Italy.
