Description
Designed by Joe Colombo in 1965, the Spider lamp is a timeless masterpiece of modern Italian design. Composed of a single luminaire in fire-painted metal, expressly created for a special horizontal spot bulb, it rests elegantly on a chromed vertical rod supported by a lacquered metal base. A melamine joint allows the inclination and repositioning of the reflector, combining technical innovation with sleek functionality.
This high-end design icon, winner of the Compasso d’Oro Award in 1967 and showcased in the legendary “Italy: The New Domestic Landscape” exhibition at MoMA in 1972, is today part of the permanent collections of prestigious institutions such as the Triennale di Milano, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Kunstmuseum Düsseldorf and the Neue Sammlung in Munich.
In a tribute to this exclusive piece, Joe Colombo reintroduces the Spider in a Mini version: a luxury reinterpretation that faithfully preserves the refined balance and distinctive details of the original. With its lacquered base, chromed stem and luminous body recalling the historic “hammer head” shape, the Mini Spider merges heritage with contemporary elegance. Offered in new sophisticated finishes, this modern re-edition adds a bold yet elegant touch, making the Spider Collection an enduring statement of designer refinement and timeless exclusivity.
Made in Italy.
