Description
The Colombo lamp, designed in 1970 by the visionary and futuristic designer Joe Colombo, stands as one of the first domestic lamps to embrace the then-revolutionary halogen light. Its design – composed of a solid base, chrome stem, and an adjustable reflector – shows Colombo’s unique ability to merge clean, modern shapes with technological functionality, perfectly aligned with his innovative design philosophy. Produced in several variants – floor, wall, and ceiling – the Colombo family has remained for over four decades one of the most iconic and best-selling models in the Oluce catalogue, embodying the timeless appeal of luxury lighting design.
To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the collection was updated with a modern LED dimmer version, a refined evolution that preserves the lamp’s essential elegance while enhancing its performance for today’s needs. A true example of designer lighting that combines heritage, innovation, and sophistication, Colombo continues to illuminate contemporary interiors with its exclusive and enduring style.
Over the years, Colombo has earned international recognition, entering prestigious museum collections such as the Die Neue Sammlung in Munich (1983), the Museum für Angewandte Kunst in Cologne (1990), and the Kunstmuseum in Düsseldorf (1989).
