Description

The Helsinki Trolley by Desalto, designed by Caronni + Bonanomi in 1998, combines practical versatility with the collection’s signature minimalist Italian design. Created to adapt to different needs throughout the home, this modular trolley system offers functional storage and organization for kitchens and contemporary living spaces. Each trolley features a demountable steel frame with a 1.18 × 1.18-inch square section and precision-engineered die-cast aluminum joints. The frame is available in matte lacquered finishes and can be configured with tops in toughened glass, Fenix® laminate, layered laminate, or ceramic. A variety of accessories, including trays, shelves, drawers, cutting boards, and chromed twin rods, allows each composition to serve a specific purpose. The metal drawers, shelves, and trays are available in the same color as the selected trolley frame, creating a coordinated appearance.

The Helsinki Trolley is available in several compositions, each offering a distinct combination of accessories:

Composition 2 includes a large metal tray, a small metal tray, a large deep metal tray, a solid kiln-dried beech cutting board, a small metal drawer, and five chromed twin rods, arranged on a tall square base.
Composition 4 features a solid kiln-dried beech cutting board, two large metal trays, a small deep metal tray, a striped beech tray with a white bilaminate bottom, and three chromed twin rods on a wider base.
Composition 5 combines a small metal drawer, two large metal trays, and three chromed twin rods on a compact base.
Composition 9 includes two small metal shelves, a large deep metal tray, and three chromed twin rods on a tall square base.
Composition 11 offers two large metal trays, a small deep metal tray, and two chromed twin rods on a wider base.

The accessories are designed to accommodate different organizational needs. The small metal drawer has interior dimensions of 16″1/2W x 17″3/8D x 2″1/2H, while the large metal drawer measures 16″1/2W x 30″1/8D x 2″1/2H inside. The small metal shelf measures 17″3/4W x 18″1/8D, and the large metal shelf measures 27″1/2W x 17″3/4D. For additional storage, the small metal tray measures 8″7/8W x 18″1/8D x 1″1/8H, the small deep metal tray measures 8″7/8W x 18″1/8D x 3″3/8H, and the large deep metal tray measures 17″3/4W x 18″1/8D x 3″3/8H. Wooden accessories bring a natural material contrast to the metal structure. The solid kiln-dried beech cutting board measures 17″3/4W x 17″2/4D x 1″H, while the striped beech tray with a white bilaminate bottom measures 16″1/2W x 16″1/2D x 2″3/4H.

With its adaptable configurations, coordinated finishes, and combination of metal and wood accessories, the Desalto Helsinki Trolley offers a versatile solution for organizing and enhancing contemporary interiors. Made in Italy.
