Description
The Clay Table by Desalto, designed by Marc Krusin, combines sculptural geometry with the natural elegance of stone. The iconic Clay design brings together two contrasting volumes that meet at their vertices, creating a distinctive composition defined by balanced proportions, architectural character, and visual harmony.
This version features a 3/4-inch-thick marble tabletop, showcasing the unique veining and natural variations that make each stone surface distinctive. The marble is protected with a transparent polyester coating that creates a matte effect, preserving the understated appearance of the material. This treatment does not apply to the Avocado and Pietra di Luserna finishes.
The tabletop rests on a rigid polyurethane base, available in a lacquered finish or with one of three handcrafted surface treatments: Concrete, Stone, and Marble. The Concrete and Stone finishes are created through the manual application of paste, while the Marble finish is obtained by manually applying marble powder mixed with resin. These carefully executed treatments introduce texture and depth to the sculptural base, complementing the natural character of the marble top.
The contrast between the solid stone surface and the expressive conical base gives the Clay Marble Table a striking presence without unnecessary ornamentation. Its precise geometry and refined material combination make it a sophisticated centerpiece for contemporary dining rooms, upscale residential interiors, and design-led hospitality spaces.
Recognized with the Iconic Design Award in 2015, the Good Design Award in 2016, and the Red Dot Award for Product Design in 2016, the Desalto Clay Table by Marc Krusin remains a distinctive example of contemporary Italian furniture design. The marble-top version highlights the collection’s sculptural identity through the enduring beauty and individuality of natural stone. Made in Italy.
